Congratulations prefects. Just to make sure we are all here and still wanting this position, if nothing else please leave me a comment letting me know that you've read this. Questions and comments are, as always, encouraged.

Your priority right now is your common rooms. You'll notice that if you were not a member of your room before (for any reason), you've been sent an invite. Likewise your status has be upgraded and you now have moderator status and all the frills that go with that.

The only exception here is Gryffindor - unfortunately we were not able to contact those who previously maintained that common room and therefore we do not have the proper access to it. So, autumnelephant , would you please create a new community to act as your common room? I trust you to pick an appropriate name ;) And please do send me (leoin) and Kuri (kuri_sutaru) an invite and maintainer status so in the case something should happen we have the ability to look after the comm. You can make a post on hogwartsch letting your fellow house mates know they need to relocate when you get it up and running.

Once the term starts - very soon, two or three days tops - official sorting will begin. Stamping will occur two days out of the week, and at the end of every round of stamping there will be a post on hogwarts_ch with a list of all new members and their houses. It will be your job to send them invites to their common rooms.

As far as your communities go, they are at your disposal and leisure. The only things that are required are:

  • Links to all of Hogwarts Challenge's active communities (that list will be provided for you to copy/paste in once we finish updating the userinfos of the main comms)
  • List yourself as Prefects and provide a link to your staff inbox (getting to that below!)
  • Something a bit more than “Welcome to the ____ common room” in the info – you are all the leaders of your house and if you can't muster up enough morale to write a nice little introduction for it it is a sad state of affairs ;)
  • House colors used in the layout (that of which can be as simple or extravagant as you like, and made by whomever you like).
  • An updated list of members somewhere (this can be in a post and updated when necessary for easy linking to from your own community's userinfo as well as the main and sorting. You can see who from your house is officially still enrolled HERE. Please delete anyone in your common room not listed there.)
  • Communities must be PRIVATE. Members may only be added via your invite. Posts are to be friends locked. Because of this, please notify your house mates they must have the community friended to see posts, and include a note of this in a public post viewable to all (this can double as your introduction post). An example of this can be seen in the current Ravenclaw common room smarterthanthou for those of you who do not have it on their flist.
  • When posting official announcements or posts, please either use an icon with your position labled (see mine), or include your position in your signature. Example: Leoin - Headmistress. You do not need to include this all the time (such as just during fun discussions), but only when it is important to the matter at hand or dealing with Hogwarts Challenge business.

    You may appoint a House grounds keeper if you yourself need help pruning in the future, as well as any other special positions you see fit or think would be fun. However, “official” positions (such as Co-Prefect) can only be appointed by Kuri and I. Inner-house contests can be run, but not for points.

    I don't think that sounds too restrictive. I hope not. I really would love for you all, with the help of your house members, to make it your own. Outside of those points listed above (and whatever may arise unexpectedly out of necessity in the future) are the only things I ask.

    Regarding inboxes, they will be located on this community - hgchbackstage. You can see mine HERE. A list will be kept in this community's profile, and you may directly link straight to your inbox when you cite yourself in your common room's userinfo. Your inbox post can read however you want and include whatever contact information you like. Just so long as it provides a place for members to contact you if need be.

    THIS community will be our official forum for all HGCH staff. Posts henceforth should be friends locked (with the exception of your Staff Inbox). If you have an idea you'd like to present, questions to ask the whole staff, or anything along those lines, do it here.

    As always, please promote participation (sorting, discussions), keep any eye out for those disregarding rules and most of all HAVE FUN! Don't hesitate to ask questions or provide feedback.
